The Energy Conservatory Adds Two New Leaders in Support of Customers

Company announces addition of Jake McAlpine and Chris Hughes

MINNEAPOLIS (June 16, 2021) – The Energy Conservatory (TEC) announces Jake McAlpine as Manager of Technical Support, and Chris Hughes as HVAC Business Development Manager.

Jake comes to The Energy Conservatory with 12 years of experience in the Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP). He first worked as an energy auditor and program manager for a weatherization service provider in the Minneapolis area.  He then moved to the Minnesota Department of Commerce where he worked in training and technical assistance and later as the program supervisor. Jake has a Bachelor of Science degree in Residential Building Science & Technology from the University of Minnesota.

Chris is the Co-founder of Hughes Mechanical, and has 18-years of experience in the HVAC industry as a mechanical contractor.  He has worked in multiple roles in both residential and commercial HVAC, and has experience in air flow design, refrigeration, DDC and Pneumatic controls, VFD’s, and VRV/VRF Technology.  He is an enthusiastic promoter of HVAC education and has been sharing best practices as the founder of The HVAC Grapevine.

With these additions, TEC hopes to better support key customers who work on building envelopes, ducts, and mechanical systems.  “Bringing Jake and Chris onto the team is an investment to support our mission set over 40 years ago by our founder Gary Nelson, which is to help the industry deliver improved built environments through air pressure and flow measurements”, said Steve Rogers, President of TEC.  “Jake and Chris bring extensive experience from the field which will not only help us better support our customers, it will also help us improve our equipment design to support how it is used in the real world.”
